Wisdom Teeth Extraction-post surgery?!

Question:

Wisdom Teeth Extraction-post surgery?

I just had my upper left wisdom tooth pulled out yesterday around 4:30 p.m. So far, I've had no swelling but some pain and consistent blood oozing out. This morning when I woke up, I had the taste of blood in my mouth (yuck). I ate something yesterday before bed but only rinsed very gently with water. But this morning I really want to rinse with warm saltwater. On the instruction sheet, it says I should wait 24 hours before a rinse...does that mean I need to wait until at least 4:30 p.m today??? Other than that, I'm doing ok..some pain and uncomfortable-ness, but I'm sure that will be better by tomorrow.

The pain is sort at the top palette above the extraction site. Is this normal?? And it's still a little hard to open my mouth. thanks!!

I agree with TJ's answer, but if you are still oozing blood, you need to place gauze in the area and bite down gently for about 15-20 minutes, then take it out and throw away. If you are still bleeding, repeat the gauze, and if it still happens, take a tea bag, moisten it, squeeze out the excess water and gently bite on it for a few minutes.( be sure to place the gauze or tea bag behind the last tooth, and in the area of the wound) Tea contains tanic acid that stops bleeding. If there is no bleeding, then you don't need the gauze. Things like eating and brushing can cause a little oozing, but it should stop on it's own. Also, don't ever sleep with gauze in your mouth, you might aspirate it or swallow it. And you may want to use an old pillowcase for the next few days. Good luck!!
