Answers:

It is more expensive to have the "white" filling no matter if insured or not as most insurance companies see this as cosmetic and that is not covered when it can be done for less and just as effectively. I did have some replaced as my dentist had talked me into it saying how much better I would like it and how nicer it would be. Well so far I have lost 2 of the fillings and had to have them replaced. Those fillings are more sensative to hot/cold and although they did look nice after having them done and my teeth polished up I now notice that the rest of the teeth get that normal slight yellowing in between cleanings but NOT the "white" filling and they stand out just as much as normal "silver" ones. If you really want it I would suggest contacting a local community college or nearby dental school and ask if they do them. The cost is cheaper - sometimes things are even FREE :) and all work is done under the guidance of a professional dental person. Good Luck!
