Why did half of my tooth come off?
Ok well I am 20 years old, I had a root canal back when i was 11 or 12. Last night I was just chewing gum then suddenly i felt half of my back tooth come off. It looks so weird. It was just one piece. Its all the way in the back of my mouth and now it looks like its missing a piece. I dont know what this means but i am worried. It looks kinda blackish too. I looked at the piece that came off ..on the bottom it was all black. I am so scared im already losing teeth at 20 yrs old. I dont know what is gonna happen to me! someone help!!!

When a root canal is performed, alot of the tooth structure is drilled away to make access to the nerves. The outer walls of the tooth are very weak and could possibly fracture if you don't have a stronger restoration placed. Most of the time a dentist will recommend that you have a crown placed as soon as possible. What a lot of people don't realize is that even though you have a root canal, your tooth is still susceptible to decay, even under the gumline. Most people aren't alarmed when they notice black spots around their tooth b/c the nerves are removed and not causing any pain. Go to the dentist asap! Have a full-set of xrays taken and the dentist will review with you everything you need to do to get back to good oral health. Don't worry! And goood luck!!
