You may hate needles, but that injection blocks the nerve impulse and makes it comfortable for you. On many patients it takes more than one injection to properly numb the area so never be afraid to communicate that to the dentist.

And it's totally okay to not like needles and injections. every patient has a different pet peeve and fear, that's why communication is of the utmost importance.

Good luck!

I would call the dentist office. If they didn't do the job correctly, you should not be responsible for having to pay for the repairs, which it sounds like you need. I haven't ever had a filling but my partner has - he had problems with his dental work, and they repaired it for free.

Cheers

Can your dentist get you a prescription for some pain medication?
PS I cry too sometimes.

It hurt while it was being drilled,or later?
If it hurt while being treated, NEVER be afraid to tell your dentist the injection didn't work properly. This happens commonly, and you may just need a little more anesthetic--or his/her aim could be off!
Pain control is one of a dentist's biggest responsibilities--make sure you get what you're paying for!

If not the tooth, the area of the injection would have been numb; so you would not have felt another injection. If the teeth hurt after the numbness wears off, avoid hot an cold food and beverages for a few days.

Let me get this straight, you experienced pain while your dentist was excavating the decay, or during the drilling, and your dentist was aware of your pain, offered more anesthetic....yet you "refused" more anesthetic which would have eliminated your discomfort. May I ask, then what exactly is it that you are complaining about? Your "discomfort" is your own fault for rejecting the anesthetic, which by the way, you would not have felt another injection, because the soft tissue was anesthetized.

OK, you say "you are a man," and one that is man enough to admit to crying. I say, go ahead and cry, but don't blame your dentist for your on ignorance. He tried to help you and you wouldn't let him. I would have placed a temporary sedative filling and sent you on your way till you were ready to have the tooth worked on again.

If you think this is a grown man's behavior, then you are sadly mistaken. You need to grow up, a real man would have taken another injection and not complained about it here. I'm so glad there aren't more patients like you.

Sorry if you think my comment is harsh, but this is reality, we don't like to work on someone who isn't anesthetized because they may jump while the drill is going and really hurt themselves. By the way, Novocaine isn't used anymore.

Additional information: I am far from angry, but you clearly didn't get my point and probably won't no matter what is said or how the point is stated. Let me say this, you had a choice, to have more anesthetic administered and be pain free, or the route you took, which was to do nothing and feel pain "some" pain, then to complain about it, as if it were your dentist's fault is absurd. Also I stated that "if you were my patient" I would not have allowed treatment to continue if you were experiencing pain and refused more anesthetic. I should also tell you that there are "a few patients" who have extensive procedures preformed without any anesthetic, procedures such as crown prep, which is much more extensive that a simple restoration. As for the use of anesthetic, it's their choice, but they have the option to stop at any time and have an anesthetic administered. You "had" that choice too, so why are you here complaining about the choice you made? Now you can think that I'm angry, if you like, it doesn't bother me in the least. After all, you aren't my patient. I
