What's the chemistry behind plaque and/or toothpaste?!

Question: ie, fluoride replaces ions on the tooth, etc...

Answers: ie, fluoride replaces ions on the tooth, etc...

plaque is a sticky substance on your tooth. Its saliva, food & bacteria. It can be easly removed by proper brushing. If the plaque is not removed it solidify ( mineralise)& become calculus. Plaque & calculus causes gum dieases.
Tooth paste contains some powder & chemicals to remove plaque, but not calculus. The powder is more abrasive than the toilet soap. The chemicals like floride, potassium nitrate, strontium chloride, are chemicals to strenthen the enamel.
Tooth contains hydroxy appitite, when you use a florideated tooth paste, the hydroxy is replaced with floro, which is stronger & prevents caries formation.

no fluoride kills the bacteria that cause plaque... its biological not really chemical.
