Is it common for your gum to swell when a tooth is growing?!

Question: My first wisdom tooth is currently growing, and I noticed that the gum it's growing on feels swollen now? It also has a little bump where it the tooth is growing, which I'm thinking could be apart of the swelling. I'm just making sure it's nothing too bad. Thank you and Merry Christmas to everyone! (:

This problem is commonly encountered while the wisdom teeth are growing....take it easy...dont spoil your festival season. For the gum swelling , i would suggest you to take some pain killer and anti-inflammatory drug that you have been taking normally in the past. Secondly, please do a lot of gargles with warm saline water which gives a lot of relief if repeated every 2-3 hours. But, thereafter you must consult a dentist for check-up because he will be in a position to tell exactly as to whether your wisdom tooth is coming normally or it is impacted.....if needed, he would ask for a radiograph(x-ray)........In any case, there does not appear to be any cause of anxiety........
Merry Christmas!! God bless you.

I had the exact same thing with my wisdom teeth...when it breaks through the gum the swelling will do down. If it doesn't cause you any problems it's nothing to worry about.

Don't worry, it's normal, my wisdom teeth keeps on growing really slowly, like every 2 months, and also my gum keeps on swelling a lot... try to put ice on it, it is hard, but kind of takes the pain away.. hope it helps, merry christmas

are they the teeth behind the last ones? or like the 12 yr molars?? either way, im getting my 12 yr molars and there is a small flat surface where mi tooth is growing but then there is a big bump making it hard to eat on that side, and lol guess wat? i have a loose tooth on the other side... it shouldnt be anytrhing too bad, or were both in trubble

lol

As the 3rd molars or wisdom teeth erupt, there is some swelling as the tooth pushes through the tissue. Most patients have some discomfort, ranging from mild to moderate levels during the eruption of the third molars. Most dentist advise their removal
