Answers: It is only on my top right tooth. But it is very painful!!

The ring is called a band and it my have all sorts of clips or tubes or buttons. They are generally used for anchorage. Tubes may retain the arch wire. Buttons are for elastics. If this band is painful, you should return to the orthodontist to see if you have a problem or if this is just the pain of tooth movement.

is it still in there? are you getting braces? did you get a filling? information would be helpful...

I'm sorry- not to sound harsh or anything- but you, as a patient- HAVE TO ask questions. It's your right and your job. If someone is doing something to you- you should ask questions BEFORE they do it. Granted- the person who did it should have explained it to you before they did it- and that is their job- and they did a bad one. So, It's not all your fault. But that sounds serious and painful, you may want to call your dentist or ER quickly.
I wish you the best of luck
