Are pins suppose to be left in tooth when a root canal is done?!

Question:

Are pins suppose to be left in tooth when a root canal is done?

Answers:

If you are referring to the orange-colored sticks (gutta percha cones), yes those are used in conjunction with a paste to seal up the root canals.

If you are referring to one of the metal pin-like devices (an endodontic file used to shape and clean the canals), no they are not supposed to be left in there. Broken files do sometimes get lodged in root canals, and the dentist is supposed to inform you if that happened and what the possible consequences are.
