Is it too much risky to change cap of a root caneled tooth?

at 2001,four teeth of my front were root caneled and caped.
but now the caps get discoloured so i want to change.
is it too much risky to change caps?what r the risk factors?when the old caps will be removed, if there any posibility to breakag of the root caneled teeth. i am afraid.help me. answer me pls

It's hard to determine why your crowns are becoming discolored after 6 years. Crowns should NOT change shade. Are these porcelain or porcelain fused to metal? In any case, if you want them changed then they will need to be removed. While the chance that your real teeth will break is very slim, there is always that chance and is one that you will need to be aware of [if one breaks it can be restored with a post and then a composite buildup along with the new crown]. Your dentist will be very careful when removing the old crowns. He will need to slit them and try to break the cement bond which sometimes is easy and sometimes requires further splitting of the old crowns. Good luck!
