Question about Retainers..?

Okay, I had my braces off when I was in 7th grade and now I'm going to be an upcoming Sophomore.

I wore a retainer throughout 7th grade to 8th grade. Then I visited my cousins house for the summer, and when I came back home, I left my retainer at his house. It's been two years since then, and they probably through the retainer away by now.

My dentist never call me in anymore for any appointments, should I be worried?

I think 2 or 3 years is about how long you are supposed to wear your retainer. even if it isn't thrown away by now it probably wouldn't fit in anymore (because your teeth probably shifted slightly) I don't think you should be worried but I would still call my orthodontist just to be sure. (one little phone call can't hurt anything)
