Bad breath problem...but not the usual type?!

Question: Last year I went through a bad flu (I never get sick) and since then I've been having this taste in my mouth (like my mouth is wrapped in ceran wrap and I have this horrible breath on me I cannot stand it. It is worse in the morning but it is not the usual kind of bad breath but it comes from like the back of the mouth (like all the way down the throat). I've sensed that it becomes worse when I eat onion (so I stopped eating it). I don't eat spicy foods or garlic or anything like that. I don't know what it is and to who I should go to. I do brush regularly and floss irregularly :) (like 2 times a week)
I also use listerine, chew gum, and with the latter the problem "goes away" for as long as I have gum in my mouth (but I can't chew it all day though).
If anyone has any suggestions please share, I'd greatly appreciate them!

Thank you in advance

Hydrogen Peroxide is a GREAT mouth wash, when used with baking soda it make a GREAT tooth whitener. I am certain this will help alleviate your bad breath problem BUT, it sounds like your problem is gastrointestinal so you will need to see a Dr. that will take you seriously and help you find your answer of what is happening on the inside of you. The problem most likely is coming from your gut, internal juices etc. See a Doc. A specialist would be best, Gastrointestinal specialist. Good Luck

Go to a doctor or a dentist, Mr. Halitosis!

Your connection of the beginning of this problem with a bout with the flu suggests a chronic sinus infection. However, bad breath is not really much to hang this diagnosis on. But if you have congestion on one side or any nasal discharge it might be worth ruling out sinusitis.
Certainly it can be dental--related to either decay or periodontal disease, so if you haven't had a dental checkup lately it would be a good idea.

are you on any medication, like metranedazol or tini? The side effects will give you all these signs.
