Is dry socket something same as tooth aches ..??!
Question:
Is dry socket something same as tooth aches ..??
Answers:
No. A tooth ache is usually caused by a cavity, abscess, sensitivity, or exposed nerve. Dry socket is exactly what it sounds like - the blood clot loosens or gets disturbed, causing the empty socket where a tooth was pulled to dry out and inflame. It throbs deep down like no other mouth pain. You'll know if you have it, it's intolerable.
It's caused by using a straw, smoking, drinking carbonated beverages, or anything else that may disturb the blood clot over it. All of these should be avoided for at least the first 24-48 hours.
