Going rate for a root canal in Milwaukee, WI? / Dentist recommendation in Milwau!

Question:

Going rate for a root canal in Milwaukee, WI? / Dentist recommendation in Milwaukee?

Just wondering if anyone has recently had a root canal done in the Milwaukee are. My benefits just kicked in and I saw a dentist and need to get one done. He quoted me a price of 1054.00 which my insurance will cover half...that's without a crown which was quoted at another 937.00 which insurance also covers half. Does this sound like a reasonable price? Can anyone recommend a cheaper place that does quality work? I thought I was doing good by putting a lot on my flex plan but this alone will probably drain that plus I need more things done. Thank you in advance.

Answers:

Those fees are a bit on the high end, but within the range charged by most private-practice dentists. Keep in mind root canal procedures have different fees for different teeth-- Molars cost more because they have more root canals than anterior teeth.

If you want to get those procedures done for cheaper, you might want to consider going to the dental school in your area, which would be Marquette University's dental school in Milwaukee. The fee for a dental student to do a root canal for you would be significantly lower than that of a private-practice dentist, and the student is supervised by an endodontic specialist so the quality of care is quite good. An option for you to consider.

Good luck.
