Question about my gap + braces?!
Question: I'm getting braces the 27th and I'm really excited actually. I'm not nervous at all probably cause i've been waiting so long to get them.
I have a gap that is a tiny bit smaller than a centimeter and I was wondering on average how long it will take to close the gap. My orthodontist said that I should only have to have them on for a year and a half if I wear my rubberbands and all that. I don't need head gear or anything, my teeth are pretty straight, Its just like my gap and I have a "deep bite" and like "minor cross bite".

It sounds like your orthodontist has already answered your question.
I know the gap is what is bothering you most, but because teeth don't truly move horizontally through bone but must be tipped one way, then another, usually a variety of devices must be used on multiple teeth--even if your concern is merely that 1 cm. gap.

Every tooth is different, your orthodontist is unfortunately the best source of an answer.
That said, I saw a gap that size closed in a day. I'm sure this is an extreme situation, and the teeth may have already been loosened. But I think this gives an idea of what is possible under some situations.
It all depends on your teeth and you'll never know until it happens. But these braces are definitely worth it, so don't mind how long they take. What's a year and a half or longer compared to the rest of your life? I know I love my teeth now that they are perfect! =]
Ok, you are exactly like me except for the gap! I get mine on the 27th too and I have been waiting for while and soooo excited!!!! Did you have spacers? Well my gap is kind of big so you may see some change in about from weeks to months (like 1 month or 2) But that's just my guess! Don't take my word for it because everyone is different! I also have to have them for about a year and a half with no headgear but I have to get 4 teeth extracted!
