Question: if i have just one very tiny whitish colored sore under my tongue, close to my lower gum but not directly on it[its at the end of that stringy thing under your tongue], does that sound like a canker? it looks kinda like it has a hole in it and its slightly raised, but very small.

They are the same thing. They are viral in origin and often crop up when you are run down. Canker sores vary in size and are generally red with white borders and slightly indented (as opposed to a bump). They can appear on virtually any pink tissue in the mouth. Canker sores can last up to 3 weeks. A great treatment is Zylactin-B. It is an ointment. What you do is you dry the lesion and place a very thin layer of the ointment over the lesion and keep it dry for another 30 seconds or so. Once set, the ointment forms a rubbery patch over the sore spot so that acidic or salty foods don't hurt as much. Also, the product contains Benzocaine which gently freezes the sore so that the pain is controlled immediately. You can change the dressing 3-4 times per day.
