Wisdom teeth under my jaw bone will cause bone damage?!

Question:

Wisdom teeth under my jaw bone will cause bone damage?

I recently went to a check up at my dentist and he told me that I have to get 2 wisdom teeth removed because they are coming up under my jaw bone on both sides of my mouth. He said I should get them removed soon because they can damage my bones. He wouldn't go into detail with me even though I asked.

How serious could the damage be? I can't get them removed until after August or September, so will the longer I wait cause more damage?

The teeth have not erupted. It's actually impossible for them to do so because they are directly under my jaw bone!

Answers:

I recommend removal of wisdom teeth if they are erupting close to the backside of the second molar. Especially if they are partially erupted. You can lose bone on the back side of that second molar because the wisdom tooth is reducing it by trying to move up. It will be fine to wait a few months. He probably was just saying not to wait years. Sorry he was not very informative for you though. That is not good dentistry. Good luck.
