Sensitivity to cold water is not unusual especially when you are in the first stages of orthodonture. It is possible that the expander is pushing the gum away from the root of the tooth and that area of the tooth is very sensitive to temperatures. The smartest thing that you can do is go to your dentist to have the tooth checked out. There might be a hidden cause for the sensitivity that requires treatment... so do it soon.

It could be a lot of reasons. It could be sensitive because the gum is worn away, because you have a cavity, or it could just be sensitive with nothing else wrong...Just go to the dentist and find out. Dental problems are a lot cheaper the sooner you take care of them. Good luck!

I have had issues with sensitive teeth and have found some relief from Kanka Stick and sensitive type toothpastes. It will at least buy you time until you get to the dentist. Don't delay though because it could possibly lead to additional problems if ignored!
