Braces...hurting?!

Question: My braces are really hurting, and I only got the brackets. I'm getting the wires in next week, but the rubberbands are making my teeth really sore, cuz they're suppose to be spacers are something.
1) is there anything that i can do, (besides medication) to ease the pain.
2) When getting the wires on, is it like 1000000000 times more pain.....
Please HELP!!

Hey I can help! Ok I got my spacers off and braces on and the wires on yesterday! Getting the spacers hurt for a couple of days but you get used to it after 3 or 4 days!

1.I ate softfoods like jello and pudding and chicken noodle soup (although the chicken part was a bit hard.)
2. People say that spacers hurt worse then braces and for me, they were right! The first day I got braces (yesterday) I ate rice and chicken and the first day I got spacers I ate jello pudding, mashed potaoes... I woke up this morning and it didn't hurt! I can actually chew! Yesterday they did hurt a bit though but not how people said it will. I think it's different for people though. KEEP YOUR TEETH CLEAN WHEN YOU GET THEM ON AND BUY ACT MOUTHWASH (READ DIRECTIONS:)

God Bless!

Maybe you need them adjusted. Arrange an appointment with your dentist and talk this over with him.

youll get used to the pain. but if it just hurts all the time with a lot of pain then you should talk with the dentist about it.

I had mine put on exactly a week ago- brackets and wires. I did not need spacers/rubber bands. I hurt for like 4 days pretty bad, but was able to eat soft stuff like bread and soup, apple sauce, yogurt, ice cream. The pain is definitely easing off. I just ate a tuna sandwich- but had to go easy on the biting. I do not really notice a pain feeling anymore, more like pressure.

It is really not that bad. You will make it.

I took ibuprofen. That helped a lot. I was still able to do all my normal things, work, bike, run, talk etc.

No worries. Good luck.

Hang in there! I'll tell you what I do. Rubber bands and spacers are different. Rubberbands are exactly that. small bands that you put on the brackets. I don't wear them for that reason, IT HURTS TOO MUCH. Although, when I had to wear the spacers I kept them in. Try some Iboprofin.....the pain from the wires and tightening goes away in about a week or 2. You'll have to get them tightened every month, and they'll change colors if you want every time too. The colors are about the only thing I somewhat look forward to haha. (besides the fact my teeth are getting straighter)
