Typical Nocacain side effect?!
Question: I went into the dentist for some normal procedures. The dentist gave me 4 novocane shots in the upper front gum. First off, is that a normal amount? Secondly, right after I got real hot and had a tremendously fast heart beat that felt like it was going to jump out of my chest and throat. When this happened I paniced, and also got the urge to vomit, but never did. Now, hours later, I am fine, but I am wondering if rapid heart beat is a side effect of Novocain, and how dangerous is Novocain? Will I face any other side effects now that I'm no longer numb??

I have never heard of a rapid heartbeat from novacaine. You could possibly have been having an allergic reaction, but if you had no other side effects and you feel okay now then I wouldn't worry.
Yes, 4 shots is normal and thorough. A good dentist won't be stingy with the meds!
hey i wouldn't worry. I had my wisdom teeth pulled out recently and had a similar experience. From what I was told it can be possible to have a slight allergic reaction to an ingredient in the novacaine. That ingredient is epinephrine. you might want to let your dentist know that you had a panic attack on your last visit with whatever anesthesia they administered. The dentist knows of possible side effects/allergic reactions and should use another type of anesthesia next time.other wise i think u will be fine
p.s. I kinda liked the psyched out feeling when I had my procedure done im weird i guess . my hands were shaking out of control.
