I went to the dentist last week & my temporary crown keeps falling off. What!

Question:

I went to the dentist last week & my temporary crown keeps falling off. What can I use to keep it in my mouth?

Ive been dealing with serious dental pain within these past weeks so my dentist advised me to get two root canals followed up with two crowns side by side. Well the tacky or glue that they used to keep the crown on wore off and now the temporary crown keeps falling out and poking me in my gums and its painful...i dont want to leave it off it til monday cus its there to protect the root canal work....but how can i eat? how can i go around with this annoying crown falling off...what do i do til monday?

Answers:

If you call your dentist they will fit you in to recement it for you, we do it ALL the time! Temporary crowns tend to fall off but if the teeth had root canals it isn't a super emergency, you can still eat, you really won't even notice that it isn't there. Just keep the area clean until you can get in to see your dentist or if it is really bothering you they sell a temporary cement in most drug stores, try savons.
