Just got my wisdom teeth out?!

Question: so i actually got them out Thursday, December 27th.

They stitched up my sockets right after the surgery. they arent exactly stitches but like he sewed them up with these type of strings, and these strings inside my mouth are getting annoying, he told me they would fall out on their own.

How long will it take for my sockets to heal up, do you think they are healed by now? its the third day since the surgery. and i really feel like pulling those strings out of my mouth, they get annoying when i try to eat,i cant tell if its the food or the string getting stuck on the sides of my mouth.

my cheeks are still a bit swollen, but not as bad as yesterday.
and what else can i do to minimize the swelling on my cheeks.

trim the stitches instead of pulling them out, snip them a little past the knot...
the stitches will help the sockets to heal faster...you will just have to be patient, it will probably take 5 - 7 days for them to dissolve

I would listen to your doctor. However, I had oral surgery a few years ago and I pulled out the stitches and nothing bad happened. But just to be safe, listen to your doctor.

It's going to take more than three or four days for you to heal. It will be more like weeks to completely heal. Those annoying strings should go away, but if they don't your dentist will take them out. I wouldn't pull them out myself if I were you, you could start bleeding to the point you have to rush into the dentist for, guess what, more strings.

The swelling will go down soon, but you could try an ice pack.

Good luck to you and sorry that you're in such agony.
