It could be inflamed do to drinks that are hot or cold also pop and caffeine any thing that damages your enamel will allow bacteria to get in and infect the nerve! How to treat it! First do not eat on that side to much eat soft and luke warm foods and drinks. No sugar or caffeine or pop, you will have to go to the doctor to get antibiotics to get rid of the infection or make garlic tea with fennel and sage swoosh it back and forth between your teeth! You also can take some ginkgo and a little aspirin to help increase circulation and alleviate the swelling make sure you are not allergic to any of these ingredients you can do spot test on a patch of skin usually the back of your hand rub a little on of each in different places and if it starts to turn really red and if becomes irritated you are probably allergic. Another quick fix is to use mouthwash with fluoride for about 15 - 20 minutes then spit it out and let your mouth dry out a bit and rinse with luke warm herbal tea!
Do not use any of those bleach strips to make your teeth whiter it will cause your teeth to erode! Hope This Helps GOD BLESS! and Have A Happy New Year Everyone!

When tooth decay progresses to the pulp chamber of the tooth, you will usually feel sensitivity when you drink something hot or cold.
If there is a significant amount of tooth decay, a large restoration such as a crown or filling, or trauma to the tooth, the pulp of the tooth can become inflamed or even die..
An inflamed pulp can cause a toothache or remain painless. When the pulp dies, the root canal (the area the pulp lived in) can quickly become infected with bacteria. This infection can cause pain and swelling in the abscess (supporting tissues) or in some cases the tooth can remain symptom-free. (in your case)
You can use Orajel if it begins to hurt. When you apply it around or in the tooth and it numbs the area. My cousin used it and within 2 days his toothache was gone

Probably an infection? You could try anbesol or clove oil on it for temporary fix. It could be not hurting much if it is abcessed and the nerve is dying.

Are you dental flossing REGULARLY? That why is so important to floss. Make sure there isn't any food in there. Rinse mouth with warm salty water several times a day. Maybe take some Ibuprofen with food to help with inflammation. But do go to the Dentist with the cavity.
