Crest Whitening Srtips messing up my Gums?!

Question: Ok, I have been using the Crest Whitening Strips for two day's. So thats four strips top and bottom. On the top, on my gums, theres like a discoloration or dirt like in between my teeth (but on my gums) I have bushed my teeth over and over but it hurt. I flossed to see if that would work but it didn't. So will this go away if I stop using them? I'm 13 and have all my teeth and just got my braces off about a month ago. Please help, thanks!

If you've never used the strips before, have been brushing and flossing like crazy, plus just went through the trauma of having braces removed, that's a lot of stress to be putting on your teeth and gums in a short time. I'm not surprised your gums are hurting after all that!

BUT, you don't need to worry... the strips can discolor your gums immediately after using them, but it's completely temporary. But, brushing your teeth really hard to get rid of the discoloration when your gums are already sensitive is only going to make it worse. Take a couple days off the whitestrips, brush normally (don't go crazy... give your gums time to recover), and then go back to using them as directed. Also, I know it seems like you should brush your teeth before you use whitestrips (like, they'll whiten your teeth better if you get all the gunk off them first), but it's actually not a good idea to do that. Brushing your teeth roughs up your gums a bit, so applying whitestrips after that will REALLY irritate your gums... I learned that the hard way!

The strips are totally safe to use, they do not damage your teeth and won't have any negative long-term effects, despite what some posters have said. The main whitening ingredient is hydrogen peroxide, which is something people have used in dental care for hundreds of years. A lot of tests have been run on these products to make sure they are safe, and they would not be on store shelves if they weren't. If your gums get sore or your teeth get sensitive, you can wear them every other day or just once a day... different people react differently, but you're totally normal. The same thing happens to me sometimes when I use them and it goes away after a coupld days.

probably is only plaque and you need to see a dentist typically those gels are hydrogen peroxide gels and wont do anything to your gum line

that could be a reaction to the bleaching chemical, or deterioration. Stop using the strips for a week and see what happens.

uaa!! I WANT MY TEETH BLEACHED!!!!

DO THAT!

I am 12 and i am getting my braces offf!! i want them to be bleached!!! get them!!!

and then get your left or both ear pearced depend9ing on how you look!

dude.you will get so many babes!

I have read that the Crest strips you're using are not good for your teeth or gums, so stop using them.

I noticed my brother's gums turned more pale in color when he used them. I think you maybe should try only using them once a day and make sure you don't brush your teeth until after you take them off. It hurts your teeth if you brush your teeth first and them put them on.

Those things are very bad for your teeth, they make your gums sensitive, they ruin your enamel. STOP using them!

They made me teeth super sensative. Give it another day or 2, if it gets worse and painful, stop using them.

try to go to the dentist or ask your parents about your problem or you should stop using the strips

i'm 15 and i use the white strips all the time. the discoloration is just temporary, some people's gums even turn white. try using them only once a day for a shorter time, or take a break from them and use them again in about three days. i love the white strips, but for me personally if i use them too long my teeth get really sensitive.

you might want to try "whitening" liquid rinse. then brush aftr using it. It works.

dude, your not suppose to use any whitening of any kind until you've had your braces off for a year.

your teeth are weak from the braces and the whitening just makes them weaker.

plus, if you were gonna get the whitened, you should've done it by a professional so THAT doesn't happen

i would stop using them. They say not to whitten your teeth till you are about 18 years old anyways. Also if u got it on your gums they may bleach your gums. If it doesnt get any better after not using the strips go see a dentist. You also maybe allergic to them also, i would stop using them right away. Also being only 13 i wouldnt whitten your teeth it isnt good for them and it also causes sensitivty and at your age you dont want to have sensitive teeth they can also weaken the enamel on your teeth as well.

Make sure you don't have any type of gum disease or an exposed root, because you never want to put whitening stuff on those. It will cause you MUCH pain. You should go to the dentist and ask him to see if you have any of those. [like gingivitis, exposed root, etc...]

You should go to the best dentist and at home use Colgate because its better than crest.

I'm in my car!
