Should I get my gold/platinum braces changed to clear brackets?!

Question: I just got my braces 1 week ago and impulsively decided to get gold/platinum brackets on top and bottom. My tech had them and they looked really discreet.

Well, I am really self conscious now and wish I had stuck with the plan to do clear on top. I saw a girl yesterday who had the clear and I hardly knew she was wearing braces.

I am 36 and I am self conscious as it is to be wearing braces at my age. Every one at work and other has seen them. My boyfriend likes them ( or at least is being supportive). Really, no one really cares if I have braces but me.

My ortho can change them to Clarity SmartClip next week ( no ligatures, but a tiny silver clip that is hidden under the archwire)
The cost will be $300 to do the upper only . I have to leave the metal on bottom, so I may as well just keep the gold down there.

So I am wondering if anyone can lend some advice or share their thoughts , experiences.

I really don't want to spend the extra $$ or delay my treatment.

if everybody likes them but you, youll get used to them. i have had them for two years and i got used to them after two weeks. just give it time

i like clear, but gold and platnium are good, too. I think that every time you get them tightened you are able to change the brackets, so just keep them the colors that they are now, and next time try clear. That way you'll be able to know which is better. Oh, and don't worry about being self-concious, because everybody is when they get braces.
