Question: I'm really worried about going to the dentist. I know it sounds childish, but i need some advice to help me overcome my fear of going to the dentist. I think it's because i'm afraid of pain and needles.

if your just there for a check up then they wont use any needles. just think of it as a spa day you go in they clean your teeth. the only thing they use is a brush that spins and that little mirror thing lol.
thats what i just tell myself when i go. pretend its a spa day.
if you are getting a filling just think once this is over i dont have to do it again for another 5 years or 10.
they also have dentist now who give you that sleeping gas so your asleep the whole time during it. ask your dentist about it.
luck <3
im not a big fan of people putting there hands in my mouth either =]
My dentist is fun and nice! He's in a band, and he has a great sense of humor. My friend goes to him, and her brother (who is interested in war) hates needles, so he started talking to him about war, and put a cloth over the needle, and then didn't even notice he got one!
I'm not sure how that'll help you, but... not all dentists are pain-inflicting monsters. It'll be fine!
well eventually the longer you wait your teeth aren't getting any better, teeth cleaning is good health hygiene.
I have always loved going to the dentist, although I realize many people feel as you do, for many of the same reasons. Because it is a check-up, there should be NO needles, and even if you have to come back for a filling or something, don't worry--many dentists use the shake method and you really feel nothing.
I think of it like going to the hairdressers - I sit back and enjoy someone taking care of me!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!
Go to a dentist who is educated in dental phobia. He'll give you some medication to sedate you and you won't remember anything about the procedure.
Below a link to dental fear central, you will be able to find a dentist who meets your needs.
Good luck!
