I just got my braces off a week and a half ago. It hurt me like crazy. First, they have to pull off your braces with a weird tool and it puts a lot of pressure on your teeth. That makes your teeth very sore. Then, they have to scrape off the cement, ow! Then that's it! Oh and I don't know if this happens to everybody, but they scraped cement on the back of my teeth and put a wire there. It's not my retainer though.

Not really, well its nothing compared to what you have gone through with them on.
They just ply them off - its no big amount of pain, practically nothing.
It use to hurt in the old days when they used bands but, now it will just feel wierd. You won't be use to all that extra space in your mouth and moving your caloussed tongue over your teeth.

No, it's just really annoying with the drill sound. What they do is they just cut the wire out, take the brackets and molar things off in the back. That is all pain free, but they have to file down every single tooth to get the glue off...ick.
