Did I lose a filling or did my tooth break away?!

Did I lose a filling or did my tooth break away?

Ok- here's the deal. I have had small crack in my tooth for awhile now. I have known it was a cavity. However, yesterday a chuck broke off. It's my second molar on the right side. The part that is missing is the cusp part-- there are four on a molar and I'm missing only one. It looks like a hole in a way....I'm wondering if maybe I had gotten it filled and the filling (I am not sure if I had gotten in filled before...I had a bad ortho. when I was younger and had to get a lot of fillings because of it...) came out or if part of it broke away because the cavity was that bad. I am not in any pain (no sensitivity yet). I am one of those people who hate the dentist and are dumb and don't go when they should.... I have an appt. on Tuesday and I was wondering if anyone has experienced this and knows which it could possibly be. Thanks!

i've had that happen it ended up just being a part of a old filling just started to wear away and got rough but to me it felt like i had a chunk out of my tooth but it was a simple fix he just sanded mine down,i can't defitinly say that you have the same problem because no matter how much you explain i just can't picture it , but me i love going to the dentist when you leave your mouth always feels so much better you just have to find a good dentist that your comfortable with.
