How much should a dental Crown cost? Did I get ripped off?!

Question: I was charged $1,350 EACH for two porcelain crowns that I just had put in. They were done by a general dentist. Was I ripped off? I really feel like I was. I'm trying to do some research and figure out if I should be going to a different dentist who doesn't charge as much, because this is just ridiculous.

We charge $886 (porcelain fused to non-precious metal crown), so your fee would have been $1772, minus a 10% discount since you don't have insurance...

i paid 3,000 each, so you got lucky

that's what mine cost without dental insurance....if you have dental insurance they would've paid for half..

Yes you should research. Your dentist charged that rate and got away with it. But, you CAN find lower rates. Rates in my plan average from 350.00-15,000 or so.

you were ripped off

THE COST OF DENTISTRY IS SUBJECTIVE.
PRICES VARY GREATLY. IF THESE CROWNS ALSO NEEDED POSTS, IT WOULD ADD TO THE COST.
JUST REMEMBER, YOU USUALLY GET THAT YOU PAY FOR. ;-) NEVER BE SAD THAT YOU INVESTED IN YOUR HEALTH.

Sounds pretty close to normal to me.
