Will it hurt?!

Question:

Will it hurt?

gettin bottom braces.

Answers:

I've had braces for about 10 months, and two months ago I had my bottoms put on. The most uncomfortable part of the procedure is when they put spacers (little rubber o-ring looking things) in between your back teeth. Your orthodontist will take the spacer and push them down in between your molars; he/she needs to make a little room so they can put on bands, which are like anchors for your braces. You'll have two bands, one on each side. You will have to wear the spacers for about a week to make room, and from there you will get your brackets (the squares that hold the wire) bonded to the front of your teeth. Afterwards, you'll have check ups to get the wire adjusted and tightened, but those are pretty care free visits. The first and second appointments to get your braces put on will be the most uncomfortable, but its all pretty each from there!

Good luck!

(By the way, getting braces was the best decision I ever made!)

Oh yes, it will take a few weeks for your mouth to get used to having the braces on. The sides of your mouth will probably get cut and be sore, but you really just have to tough it out. Don't use the wax, because it can be messy, plus it just takes longer for your mouth to get used to feeling your braces. I PROMISE you'll get over the cuts/soreness; it just takes a little time!
