I need help with my braces?!

Question: Two days before Christmas my brace wire snapped. The snapped end keeps on cutting the inside of my mouth and the wax isn't working because it keeps coming off. Also, ever since the wire snapped, the wire keeps on progressing slowly to the very back of my mouth were it has been cutting the inside very badly, it has gone so far back that my mouth only opens 1 cm before it really hurts so I can't eat much. Do you have any advice?

You need to get to the orthodontist ASAP to get it fixed, otherwise you may end up with an infection.

Do yourself a favor and pull the wire out. Your ortho might be mad at you, but the whole point of having a wire in your mouth is to pull your teeth straight. If your wire is not fully connected, it is not doing it's job, so you might as well save yourself some pain. Also, get in touch with your ortho as soon as possible and have them give you a new wire, because if you are hanging around with a loose wire in your mouth, you may be halting the progression in your Ortho's plan and you might have to add months before you get your braces off.

First thing to do is call you ortho, tell them the problem, and get an appointment ASAP. This might mess up your schedule, and prolong the time you have braces. Next, either pull the wire all the way out, or pull it back to its original position. You might have to use tweezers or pliers to pull it. I had a simliar thing happen to me. When putting on the wax, try to dry the area first. Hope this helps!
