okay, so i just got braces late summer, so i can remember tons. ahaha my best friend is getting hers on the 3rd too.

+ the WORST it is, is getting them on. during the first three or four days, youll want to go back in time and not get them. but DONT WORRY. its the wooorst.
+ random days youll have a sore tooth. but its not bad. just chew on the other side.
+ eat as MUCH AS POSSIBLE when you first get them on. itll be WEIRD, but itll hurt to eat after you get them on [several hours after, that is.]
+ dont get black [looks like oreros], dark green [looks like spinach], yellow and white for obvious reasons.
+ getting them tightened isnt NEAR as bad as getting them on. so after the first couple days, youll be FIIIINE.
+ i dont think they have to do anything different than normal for an impacted tooth. i think youll just have to get chains sooner than other people. i dont have to get chains, so im not tooooo helpful on this topic. XD
+ sleep alot when you get your braces on, and get on your computer alot. to me, moving around made them hurt more. but i found taking a couple motrin and getting on my laptop all day [i know thats sorta weird, but it really helped me] made me forget all about them, and the hurting stopped.
+ GROWL AND HISS AT THE ORTHODONISTS WHEN THEY PUT THEM ON. or sing mission impossible. it gets on their LAST NERVE. and its sooo funny and entertaining, cause youll be sitting there for an hour. :]

Well pain is in the eye of the beholder, but a simple fact might ease your mind. 70% of all braces are placed on children between the ages of 10-15 and they all seem to survive just fine. I had them when I was 13....it doesn't hurt. Good luck!

Getting braces isn't fun but its not as bad as it sounds. Putting them on hurts a little but it's not even close to breaking a leg or anything. The first couple of weeks you might be on a liquid-smoothie-soft food diet but its no big deal. I had mine on for about a year and a half and it wasn't bad. I got used to it and it didn't even feel like i had them in my mouth. don't worry about it. it may hurt a little but it's something you're going to have to live with.

It hurts during the first 2 weeks. It is like something that stretched all your teeth. But don't worry, "just bite your teeth", and after the 2 difficult weeks, you won't feel any difference! But don't eat sticky stuff, as it can stick in the braces. You really don't want to go for this "mistake" to your dentist. The risk of you going there: he can enforce your braces and than it will hurt again like the 2 first weeks.
Remember: 2 be nice, you have sometimes to suffer!

Naw,
I still have em..
only the first few days u get em when u eat itll be hard to chew..

butafter that its pretty smooth and when they tighten em..

Just make sure the wire doesnt break and cut ur gums..
cuz thats really irratiatng

It wont hurt to put them on, it didn't for me and that was over a decade ago. A lot has changed since then. Don't worry you'll be fine.

Well my pain wasn't bad. It was like a 4 out of 10. It was very sensitive though. I have to go to the orthodontist because I broke my bracket! Oh i just got them last Thursday!

ive had braces twice & it hurts @ first when they put them on but aftr a few days calucus build up & its not 2 bad but it hurts again if u have 2 have rubber bands, chains, or having them tightened but that eventually goes away.

braces only hurt the first few days you have them on. once they are on, you dont even remember they are there. when you're getting them tightened, just think of how good they'll lok when you get them off!

I wore them from 19 to 24 yo. The only pain I had was gone by the completion of the installation. From that point, small discomfort once in a great while, but no pain.

I have braces now and i had an impacted tooth. I would tell u the process on how they got it out but i dont want u to get worried, braces is an adventure of its self. The i got my braces i didnt really feel bad to a couple hours later. As long as you take some motrin or advil unlike i did. Good luck the results will rock!
