Is methyiprednisolone good for tooth infection?!
Question: the medicine is a steriod
Answers: the medicine is a steriod
One of the dentists I worked for you often prescribe an oral steroid with a course of antibiotic for infection. He believed it sped the healing process. I think it is a matter of opinion. I also know of an oral surgeon who will administer a steroid intravenously during oral surgery to help with healing time. Both of these professionals are very good at what they do and if they are prescribing it, it must be helpful.
steroids do not fight infection
they do fight inflammation very well
not in your case. it helps fight inflamation but not for tooth infection. it is much better for respiratory distress and arthritis as it works very quickly on opening up the bronchioles of the lungs and reducing joint inflamations. you'd get better results from ibuprofen as it also has anti inflamatory qualities.
If you have an infection, you need antibiotics, not a steroid... it's that simple.
