I got mine off December 17th. It hurt a little, the bands were the worst part, it didn't hurt when they took them off, just a lot of pulling and pressure. The brackets hurt a little on some sensitive teeth. They will polish them, it just feels like you are biting into ice cream and it smells like cigarettes and makes your mouth dry. then they will take impressions again and then talk you through wearing your retainer (if they have already taken retainer impressions when you had your braces on) if not, you will come back a week to 2 weeks later and get your retainer (your teeth will move a little by then) WEAR YOUR RETAINER! It feels like you have a HUGE piece of bubble gum on the top of your mouth, but you get used to it after a while. It's no biggie, just go to your dentist after wards for a cleaning. I went yesterday and they found a TON of glue still on my teeth under my gums where my bands were that the ortho didn't get off and it is causing an infection, OUCH. Good luck, and yes, they do feel weird, but the awesome kind of weird. I am still smiling, I love my teeth =)

I had my braces for a little over 2 years, and like everything else, it hurt a bit, but not afterwards. There's a semi-permanent (whatever that means) retainer on the back of your front teeth, and another retainer to wear at night. It doesn't take too long, I think about 30 minutes to an hour, I can't remember. Your mouth feels, well, smoother and without braces? My teeth weren't too bad, but I wore strips and brushed my teeth a lot just because they kind of felt slimy. It's much better without them, though, trust me!!
