Just got braces?!

Question: I just got my braces put on about 2 hours ago. They don't hurt but like, it just feels really weird. Like, I just ate some Kraft dinner for lunch and it felt wo weird so chew so I just swallowed it whole. When I did try chewing it like, I can't even explain it, my mouth just feels so weird. Is it normal for when you just get braces to have trouble chewing?

Thanks, :)

Completely normal. You may wanna take some tylenol or what not due to soreness later on and tomorrow. Your mouth will inevatably also get sores on your gums and lips due to the irratation from the metal and rough edges. Again, totally normal. Expect soreness every time the bands are changed.

You will get used to it in due time. Just look forward to your new smile! Brush well and take good care of your teeth!

Yes, later on u will get used 2 them and won't even feel them. I had braces.

yes, cuz it does feel really weird..... but it'll hurt bad later on

Totally normal. In no time at all, you'll be eating all your favorite foods with no problem.

Em...it's normal for chewing to feel weird. You'll get used to it.

yes

Sorry to say but they will kill tommorow morning. Same happened to me they didnt hurt until the next day. it hurts so bad

yea

yes
at first it didn't really hurt
but then hours later
it will hurt
it won't feel so weird anymore
:)

yes it feels weird. Give it a few days. Onvce you get them off, it'll feel just as weird.

yeah, and when you get them removed you will feel like you have horse teeth.

it sucks worse when you get them tightened! you cant eat anything!

Yes and somtimes after an adjustment it can be painful. Gum, pizza bread are just a few of the things that can cause problems. It will be worth it and good luck.

I got my braces a few weeks ago I felt the exact same way they will feel better soon!

yes it is
its gonna feel strange for a while till its gets time to get used to it and kicks in there

Yeah, it's very normal. I have braces, and when I just got them on, it was really weird. It will start hurting soon, but after about three days, it will feel normal again and you will start to forget you are wearing them!

Good luck with the braces :)

oh, yes...Brace yourself (no pun intended) for the next 6 days because chewing is really going to be a pain!

Yeah, its ok. You will get used to it over a period of time.
Avoid hard food and sticky food. (I had trouble with this and had to go to the dentist a no of times to fix them back :-)).
Anyway, its worth the trouble cos lots of people say my teeth look great now.

I've had braces on my bottom teeth for a year and 2 mnths now, iv had em on the top for 2 months. You don't normally feel the pain straight away when you have them but sorry 2 say this, they will really hurt tomorrow! Make sure you take some paracetamol and be prepared to eat soft foods such as soup and pasta.
Also, when you have them tightened you will also feel pain the same as when you first had em on. The pain normally last a couple of days, sometimes worse. The pain of when i had my top ones lasted for a week afterwards but i can really notice them moving!
All worth it in the end as ive finally believed.

yea. u get used to it, and it also will feel really weird to eat when you get them off too.

I know how you feel! I got my braces last Thursday and they didn't hurt either! Yeah it like felt weird! I am now used to them though!

Yeah it's normal to have trouble chewing (at least I was like that!) but you will get used to it! Just don't bite into a cracker and break your bracket like I did!

PEACE!

God Bless!
