It depends upon the dentist and what they do.

It really depends on the dentist but also your location. In Ontario, dental visits end up being a lot more expensive than in smaller towns, or areas.

Typically a check-up shouldn't cost you more than $50.00, but depending on the work required, it could cost up to $200 for an extraction and double/triple that for a root canal.

Cleanings are usually $75 or less.

What treatment is needed or planned?

Depends on the dentist and how much they wanna rip ya off.

At my previous dentist it cost $85 for a cleaning and check up.

At my current dentist it cost about $85 (or more, can't remember) just for the cleaning..and they insisted they had to do the check up separate for at least another $50.

Here's a clue.
Call around different offices and ask.
It varies from thoroughness, what is done and how it is done from office to office.
