Answers:

well i had the 4 of mine taken out under local but it is basically all the same but different forms. it was an interesting experience overall. I first went into the office and waited. After it was my turn. i sat in the chair while the asst. were setting up and hooking up all the wires. they gave me a blanket in case i was cold.(i took it out in October) They got a needle ready and pressured my arm to find the vein on my forearm. they were not able to find it so they found one on my hand. they injected it in and i went to sleep...it was an early appointment so i was still tired. 1 hour later(although it felt like 1/2 hour) i was sorta able to walk but i had my mom help me.
The rules are no food after 12am the day before the surgery and no water as well. Some one must be responsible for you meaning that someone is driving you home. NO straws at all..you have to remember that and you have to eat soft foods!

It was not so bad..but i puked a lot because i kept moving as i was conscious enough. That was all bad!! It is best if you keep yourself asleep until you feel better. Make sure you have someone to care for you. The gauze pads need to be changed and you will take some meds as well. Everyone is different, but i felt sick for a total of 3 days. The anesthesia takes its time to run out of your system. I was able to eat normal foods 3-4 days after, but there are people who cannot do that as it is painful. It might take a week or two..depending. The healing process is weird. As your hole starts to close there will be a foul odor in your mouth for a while. I had a syringe to clean out the food residues that may be there. There is a follow up appt. with the oral surgon so he/she will be able to see the progress. It was quite a pain, but the results last forever! ^_^
Here are some food ideas: Soup(i.e. chicken noodle/cream of mushroom/tomato); ice cream, smoothie; mashed potato...there are others as well..i do not suggest you getting baby food especially if you hate it because it is a waste of money if you cannot enjoy it(lots of people highly dislike this).

*note: I had braces on when i took them out so i tend to get the food stuck. You might want to keep a bucket near you. it is possible to puke...that happened to me while i was sleeping and i got it all over the place..even if you do not puke in it it is also a convient garbage can!!hehe...

Wish you the best of luck!
