Is the nerve sensitivity generally LESS sensitive the further back your teeth ar!

Question:

Is the nerve sensitivity generally LESS sensitive the further back your teeth are??

For ex. let's say you have either a cavity or need a root canal more up front, would the injections be more painful up front vs. way back in your mouth?
Or does it really make a difference?
just curious
[heard it was more painful/novacaine injections in the front, no?]

Answers:

Front or back in the gums, usually you just feel a pinch. Those injections don't hurt much if done right, because the vestibule area where a dentist injects into the gums have a lot of expansile tissue (the tissues can expand readily to accomodate the injected anesthetic).

It's the palatal injections that would hurt. I'm talking either the Greater palatine injection (to numb the inside roots of your upper molars) or the Incisal palatine injection (to numb the two upper central incisors). The tissue in these two places on your palate are not very flexible, and because of that injections there can be painful. But only for a second or two.
