If you take antibiotics for 3 days then miss a day would you feel pain come back!

Question: I took antibiotics for 3 days then missed a day and now the tooth next to the one extracted feels sensative again, i didnt belive pain/infection can come back only after a day, is this true? it was fine last few days i was taking antibiotics but i missed a day and now it has come back, can a pain or infection really come back in a day or 2 after being fine fine for a few days? thanks.

I've been a dental nurse for many many years and it never ceases to amaze me the amount of people who dont follow the instructions given to them by their dentist and then scream and shout at the dentist because their still in pain!
If you have an infection and are given antibiotics and are told to take them for 5-7 days and finish the WHOLE course, then you need to finish the course, dont wake up one morning and think to yourself "oh my tooth's not hurting now so i wont bother taking a tablet", antibiotics are given to you for a reason, mainly because you have been in pain and by missing a days worth your asking for trouble.
If your still in pain go back to your dentist and be honest and tell him/her that you missed a day of your meds and hopefully he/she will prescribe another course and this time you'll take them and finish the whole course!

yea man keep taking the friggin penecillin. it needs every pill at the right time, hence the the perscription. LMAO

that would depend on the severity of the infection! i had a tooth extracted and even after a week of antibiotics the infection came back after a couple of days! you should go to your doctor and get some stronger antibiotics and rince your mouth out with salt water after you eat to stop further infection! X

Yes it can....that is why it states that the course of anti biotics should be completed...generally the course lasts for up to seven days....if the course is not completed, then the infection and thus the pain can return.

there is a reason you are given 7 days worth of antibiotics. Yes it can come back if you dont complete the course. i surgest you go back to the dentist and get some stronger ones and this time make sure you complete the course without missing a day

Yes, if you are dealing with a serious virulent infection, it could definitely come back after one day. Do you understand that it is important for you to take ALL of the pills on time, not just for your personal health but for the entire planet? Yes, it's true. Bacteria that are exposed to antibiotics & aren't killed can be dangerous for everyone. That is why we have drug-resistant bacteria. Many experts believe that in 15 years we won't have any antibiotics that work. Imagine dying from that infection in your mouth & how painful that would be.

It's all to do with virus and bacteria while your taking the antibiotics the virus and bacteria are being killed but when you miss one they have time to reproduce and then you'll be in pain again thats why you need to take the full course. So when you finish taking them all the lil microbes have been killed and they can't reproduce and cause more pain !
