Please help, i have spacers...?!

Question: okay, so i got spacers in my teeth (the blue rubber ones) and they hurt really bad. i can't eat anything, and if i try, it hurts. they only way i can kinda eat is if i eat my food like a rabbit. lol. what are some foods i can eat? and is it okay to floss where your spacers are at?

Oh! and do braces hurt as much as spacers?

Thank you soooo much! :]

You'll get used to the spacers. Just imagine how great your teeth will look when the whole process is over with. It does get better but to ward off the pain, try to keep some Anbesol handy for the really hard times and take some Tylenol if it's nagging you. Try eating brown rice, and softer food so you can avoid using your molars (I assume that's where your spacers are?) Try cooking pasta a bit overdone, oatmeals, etc.
Whatever you do, get a VERY good hygeine program for cleaning your teeth because when your braces are on, they are going to trap more plaque and calculus which will NOT make you happy. Whether you can floss with the spacers or not, I'd be careful. Use Listerine and brush after EACH time you eat something. Good luck it gets MUCH better and yes, braces do hurt when they adjust your wires that go across all your teeth, but that is how you know that your teeth are MOVING!! It goes away in a few days, but again keep the topical anesthetic and Tylenol and you'll be fine.

braces only hurt for a day!

i bet it's the first day u got spacers. trust me it gets better. i quickly forgot mine were there. braces only hurt the day after you get them tightened. the pain will stop! hang in there and take a tylenol. rinsing with warm salt water helps the soreness. good luck.

i think the spacers are worse than braces and you shouldn't floss where the spacers are. eat rice, soup, ice cream, yogurt and any soft foods if it hurts. take tylenol before they put on your braces too. it helps.

Not to be a downer but my braces hurt for like 5 days. I would advise some motrin and eating soft foods like applesauce and yougurt. The spacers should be fine in a few days and you can floss with the special things the ortho gave you

ok i just got my braces in october and i tell u my spacers hurt to anyways u can eat soup, applesauce, milkshakes, pudding jello...e.t.c do not floss where your spacers are but you can floss everywhere else well it depends because when i got my braces 4 the first few days i couldnt even touch my teeth they hurt so bad but my brother got some and he said they didnt hurt that much but i dont beleive him they will most likely hurt worse yes and u can eat food just cut it up really small=] good luck!!! ur friend me

aha. i know EXACTLY how you feel. i just got my spacers out today and my braces put in. lemme tell you, the spacers hurt SOSOSO bad. i feel your pain lol. but just bear through it. it will probably hurt for about 3-4 days. and i know its super hard to eat, but you can survive on soup, mashed potatoes, and of course ice cream, for a few days. stick it out! you'll get through it (: good luck!
and ps: so far (i have only had my braces on for about 3 hours now) the spacers killed a lot more than braces(:

OK first of all, spacers were ABSOLUTELY NOTHING compared to braces-I couldn't eat anything solid for a week after getting them(braces I mean). If you're having problems with spacers, take some pain meds, wait half an hour, then try eating something. If that doesn't work, have a smoothie, some yogurt, crushed ramen noodles, rice, soup, or something that isn't hard on your teeth.
