My niece's canine tooth just came out and I see the adult tooth but.....?!
Question: My niece's top canine tooth just came out and I see the adult tooth but its been over 2 months already and there is space for it to come. I'm worried about her because what if it won't come erupt? The bigger problem is that her adult canine tooth is coming out on her gums instead of the inside of her gums. Here let me explain if I can:
Her adutlt canine tooth is growing from the front of her gums not the back of her gums. Its the opposite of growing. How long should the top canine tooth grow? Its been 2 month (I know I mentioned that).

Canine teeth can take some time to erupt. They have very long roots and are the last of the front teeth to fully develop and erupt. If it looks as though there is not enough room for the tooth or if the tooth is erupting in the wrong area, it is a matter for the dentist to evaluate and decide the proper time for the child to see an orthodontist to aid in eruption and placement of the tooth.
She needs to see a dentist and an orthodontist. They will need to put braces on her to get that tooth in the right spot.
Tell your niece's Mom to bring this up at the next checkup appointment if it isn't brought up by the dentist/hygienist first... if she's overdue for an appointment, now is a good time to get her in to be seen.
