My 4 year old has yellow teeth?!

Question: Of course I would never bleech her teeth at this age, but is there anything I can do? I brush her teeth and she doesn't drink anything that would stain them, at her age she only drinks milk, water and juice, it's just the natural color of her teeth but it is pretty noticable. I will ask the dentist at her next visit, just wondering if anyone has used baking soda or anything like that on such a young child.
Thanks

I would try mixing whatever "kiddie" toothpaste she is using with some regular, adult toothpaste. Not the whitening kind, but some good, toothpaste. If you use full strength it may be too hot tasting for her. Let her spit pretty often. You could also sprinkle a tiny bit of baking soda on her toothbrush with her paste on it. She may hate the taste so rinse and spit after you brush the front ones. Keep doing that every day & that may make some difference. Other than that, I wouldn't really do anything else till she gets older.

tell them to pack the ciggys in!

Relax and try not to convey to your child that you are anxious because children easily pick up on that. Please do not obsess over her teeth or appearance, especially in front of her.

There is nothing you can do. The good news is that is also has no bearing on the whiteness or yellowness of her developing adult teeth.

If the yellowness IS the natural colour of her teeth, abrasives like baking soda WILL NOT whiten the enamel.

Have her teeth professionally cleaned just to make sure that all removable stains are removed.

I have never known baking soda to hurt anyone but it would be hard to get her to brush with pure baking soda so wet her toothbrush, dip in a little baking soda, then put her toothpaste over it, it will help cut the taste of the baking soda. Brush 3-5 times a day so the baking soda will whiten her teeth. I'm not sure yellow is the natural color of her teeth, juices will stain the color, I drink a lot of juice and colored juices stain mine so I brush with baking soda. Maybe a bubblegum flavored toothpaste will cover the taste of baking soda better than most toothpastes for kids. Also some vitamins could color her teeth so be sure to brush after giving vitamins.

see a pediatric dentist. could be something hereditary like "dentinogenesis imperfecta"

please don't use baking soda or bleaching on her teeth. she will most likely throw up!

Make sure it's not in your water like well water.

Maybe due to some medications. Those most MDs these days would NEVER give tetracycline to a child under the age of 9.

Maybe she's sipping her father's coffee...
