Answers:

Spacers go in 1-3 weeks before your braces go on, depending on how much space needs to be made for your bands.

Your July 4th appointment could be

1. When they install your braces
2. When they check your spacers

If #1 is true, then your July 18th is your first of monthly tightenings/wire changes...depending on the type of braces you have

If #2 is true, then your braces will go in on July 18th.

Personally I think #2 is correct, especially since you say that "it was supposed to be on the 9th but I think they changed it because they said something about they didn't have enough time to make it".

"not enough time to make it" sounds like that by the 9th your spacers will not have made enough room between your teeth for them to put the bands on for your braces, so they had to move the appointment forward a week.

Oh...and spacers feel ok now...but have lots of aspirin on hand in about 6-12 hours. They will hurt like hell, and depending on how much they're moving your teeth you might have to forego chewing for a couple weeks. All I could eat was LOTS of milkshakes, ice cream and mashed potatos...and I still lost 10 pounds and had to go to the hospital to gain weight.

Don't worry tho...the spacers hurt MUCH worse than the actual braces will...once you get those suckers out it's smoothe sailing...just invest in a good water pick, it'll be your best friend for the next two years.

Good luck!
