Sore tooth? what medicine to use?!

Question: Well, I got my tooth worked on the other day (got a real big cavity filled)

now it hurts like woah.

maybe it's sensitive to the cold temperature... feels like someone's stabbing it with ice....

what is the best kind of medicine i can use on it that will work right now?

Ibuprofen (generic name) is good at controlling pain by reducing inflamation. It's also called Motrin or Advil, or you can buy it generically as ibuprofen.
Notify your dentist or oral surgeon that you are experiencing pain....the ibuprofen that you take for the pain should only be temporary until the dentist can look at it.

I have heard that rubbing an aspirin on the tooth helps a lot, and also just taking an asprin may help.

take paracetamol, ibroprufen or asparin...

Depends on what you can get your hands on. Vicdoen will make all your blues go away, but not likely that you'll get any from a doctor. You could use pretty much any painkiller from the store. Aspirin might help depending on the cause of the pain by allowing for better flow if blood to your tooth. Childrens motren, the orange liquid kind, is my favorite. Take two table spoons but follow the time period in between doses given to the oldest patient level on the box.

Take Tylenol or another pain reliever, and if you can get to a drug store, get some Anbesol or oil of cloves.
If you have that Chloroseptic mouthwash, that makes you feel numb--maybe that would help numb the tooth a little.

Aleve is numero uno and second place goes to ibuprofen.

(it goes without saying that a big fat hydrocodone trumps anything over the counter :)
