Is it possible to brush my teeth too much?!

Question: Does it destroy the enamel if I give my teeth a good gentle brushing over a long period?

I usually just brush my teeth 2 or 3 times a day for a couple minutes. Sometimes I sit back and brush my teeth while doing something else like watching a video. I like to get at all that plaque and bacteria in there.

Thanks.

Brushing even with a soft brush can cause tooth brush abrasion over time. You can cause your gums to recede. There is such a thing as overdoing it. If you want that fresh clean feeling in between brushing, I recommend using a waterpick. It's not abrasive, and it's a gentle alternative to brushing and flossing. It knocks down the bacteria and biofilm in between brushing.

P.S. Always brush softly, in small circles. Toothpaste is very abrasive. There isn't a need to really scrub the teeth. You do more harm than good.

Hope this helps. :o)

yes it is. my dentist told me i was brushing too hard.

Yes. You should not overbrush or brush too hard. You might consider flossing, rinsing and brushing lightly.

You can also improve your chances of getting rid of bacteria by swishing with hydrogen peroxide.

yes you can

Yes, you can destroy the enamel. Twice a day morning and night.

yes, you will brush off the enamel

It's advised to brush your teeth 2-3 times a day for about 2 minutes.

yeah, you can mess up your gums too. check with your dentist. you're probably fine though

yeah you could weaken your enamel on your teeth and wear it off.

It's not your teeth you have to worry about so much as your gums. You can push them away from the teeth and roots and cause infection and pain. Use a soft brush or just bruch am and pm and floss inbetween.

It could! It could fade away your teeth enamel and then you would see all the bacteria in the tooth of decay. Brushing 2 or 3 times a day is good. Or after every meal.*Remeber to brush everyday and twice a day, floss, and mouthwash(gagrle) bu bye*

You can not brush your teeth too often but you can brush them too hard and actually scrub off the enamel. If you are brushing gently (your toothbrush bristles should not flare out) then good job.
