Do you think my retainer will still work?!

Question: Ok i had braces off about 6 months ago and they were really straight.
and it took a week to get my retainer, in that time my teeth moved quite alot so i was disapointed
but continued to wear my retainer anyway
my teeth kept moving and the retainer really hurt and i thought it wasn't helping so i stopped wearing it months ago.
( there not that bad but still..)
i just found my retainer if i use it for a while do you think it will push my teeth back again?
how long will i have to wear it for?

It would help if you only answer the quiestion if you know alot about this...

?

if you can get it in and over your teeth it should still work, although it may be slightly painful for some time. i have left mine out for well over a week and my teeth moved out very quickly, but after putting up with the discomfort they have returned to perfect. it is horrible but the more regularly you wear it ( i reccomend every other night) the better it is. you can decrease how often you wear it gradualy over time, but after all the discomfort of braces you may as well keep your teeth as they are and not undo all the good work

you may as well try!!!

Your teeth will have moved by now so it probably wont fit so it , if your teeth have moved lots it probably better to go see the dentist but if they moved they will probably keep moving no matter what you do

You only need to sleep in your retainers every night for years!!! I hate the fact i have a disgusting plastic thing in my mouth and havent remembered to wear mine, but I got told by the dentist its a sure way of keeping your teeth straight, and a few minutes of wearing one the special mould actually moves your teeth, it hurts a little and its hard to chew on crusty bread and crunchy apples, but your brace isnt a total waste of time if you train your teeth at night, they like to go back to how they were before so you have to keep them in line.

If you are serious about keeping your teeth straight, take your retainer seriously. WEAR IT!

You should wear your retainer as prescribed by your dentist or orthodontist. It is IMPERATIVE that you wear it to hold the teeth in their new positions until the bone around the roots of your teeth has time to harden or mineralize. Failure to do so results in a rapid relapse...crooked teeth.

After that, try it on once a week for the REST OF YOUR LIFE.
Pick one night of the week to try it on. If there are no pressure points, put it away and try it on again the following week.

If there ARE pressure points, the teeth have drifted. Wear it every night (it might only take one night, but you will know) until the pressure points are eliminated.

By following this routine, you will have STRAIGHT TEETH FOR LIFE.

Understand that teeth can drift/shift whether we have had braces or not. The best way to prevent it is to have a retainer. You have one. It would be a shame not to use it.

Its too bad you stopped , after the expense of thousands of dollars to have a nice smile that you could just stop wearing it . Start again and make another apt. with the orthodontist to he can yell at you and tell you what needs to be done to correct the problem.

he wont yell I was just kidding

sorry cant answer this question, never had braces.
