yah, ive had braces for 1 and 1/2 years so far so sure! i can help. it really doesn't hurt at all when you first get them on and like for the first couple hours. (so eat wat u want then) because im telling you at night ur gonna be in PAIN!! ur teeth will just feel REALLY sore and will only last for a few days. but at least u get 2 change the colors!! good luck! dont b tooo scared noW!

it doesnt hurt bad at all just sometimes after tightening and first getting them on it makes your teeth really sore but it goes away and really isnt that bad
yay its exciting your gonna have straight teeth :)

i get mine off in 2 weeks!!!!! YES! anyways they use this special type of cement and put it on ur teeth they place the bracket on the tooth and on and on until all of them have a bracket. They wait for it to dry and then for a pieve of wire to your mouth on top of the brackets. Depend on the state of your the teeth they will either simply place mini rubberbands on top of the wire hooking it on to the bracket to keep the wires in place, if your teeth have a gap they will use a "swiss twist" which they will use a very fine almost dental floss like string and wrap it across the teeth (this hurts) then once everything is done they will tighten the wires. Then your done. In my experience you don't immediatley start feeling pain, but that night or the next day it will start to hurt and your gums probably will swell. But you get use to it.

Good Luck!

chill out for starters it hurts for a day or two but you can always do what i do eat anyways lol anyways it hurts everytime they get tightened and afterwards for some reason it may just be but your teeth feel a little numb

I just got mine put on today. The process is pretty much pain-free. They first polish your teeth to make them shiny or whatever. Then they put these things in your mouth that keep your lips stretched out so that they're out of the way. They also put this other device in your mouth thats acts as a block to keep your tongue out of the way, as well as to suck up saliva to keep your mouth dry. These things will feel really weird in your mouth at first, and usually your jaw/lips become sore about halfway through the procedure. In my case, 3/4 of the way through, the dentist kept accidentally jabbing the right lip-stretcher into my jaw, causing discomfort on my part.
I'm not entirely sure what happened next, all I know is that they were like picking around at my teeth. (it was pain-free) Then they began putting this liquid-y cement-stuff on each tooth, then placing each bracket on each tooth, usually one by one. (you will experience light, but painless, pressure when they push down on it) When they get done with half a row, they place this blue light over each tooth for a couple seconds, which bonds the cement to your tooth. When they are done with putting on each bracket, they remove the tongue block and the lip-spreaders, and they usually let you choose your o-bands (which come in a variety of colors). Then they run a wire through both the upper and bottom brackets (if you're getting both at the same time), and then they hook each o-band to each bracket. When this happens, quite a bit of pressure is applied, and you might experience a little pain. Then they let you see your new braces, and they explain brushing habits and what you can't/shouldn't eat and drink. Then they schedule future appointments.

A couple things that'll make this procedure as comfortable as possible is taking a pain reliever right before the procedure, as well as applying a massive amount of Chapstick. (This makes your lips comfortable when they are stretched. I did this and it worked WONDERS!)
About an hr after getting your braces, you will begin to feel soreness in your teeth, generally around the areas that need the most movement. (For me those are my top and bottom front teeth since I have an overbite) I would eat a large meal before you get your braces on, since you will be restricted to soft foods. Milkshakes help relieve pain, and noodles and soup are good things to eat. Just be sure to chew softly when eating the noodles.
