Im still wearing bracers, so i know.
It depends actually.
What will happen is, you need to have at least 2 to 4 teeth removed so as to have space. that is a rather painful week for me. I cudnt eat any hard food for the first 3 days. its alright after that.

Then, it hurts only when its tightened every month. how long the pain last depends. Some people have very sensitive gums and nerves so it'll be a lot worse for them. For me, the pain last for about 2 hours and thats it.

Its really worth it though. having nice teeth can give people a very gd impression. You'll gain confidence in urself as well. So, I think you sud go for it.

Its a 8 for me btw.

10
It hurts months after.
NO JOKE!!

i've had braces but braces dont hurt all the time!! they only hurt when they tighten them and i would say an 8 when they tighten them, but they only hurt for a couple of days and then you dont feel anything after.

it depends on how good/bad your teeth are. some say its fine, no problem. but when i first got mine, they hurt like a mofo! and i couldnt eat because they hurt so bad. so it all depends on how your teeth are right now to begin with.

braces are worth it in the end
at first it'll be painful sorta
for me it was like
it didnt hurt but when you eat, it feels like you got sucker punched lol
but you get used to it
and so does your mouth
so when you tighten braces every month, it gets easier
its not too bad so don't worry
however, it might vary depending on how bad your teeth are
so yea
if ur really scared then
tell the doctor to give you some numbing shots
and itll be all good

mine would be a 9. especially when you first get them on, and have them tightened many times months afterward. it also depends on how sensitive your teeth are.

erm i dont wear braces but from what ive been told by my friends who do...
one (1)

braces hurt 'only' during d first days, mostly weeks (thats what they told me)
after that it doesnt hurt almost at all

of course it will cause some pain (when d braces r being put) but think of d benefits:
- better teeth arrangement
- less dental problems in future
- more girlfriends !!! (or boyfriends if u r a female)

DON'T THINK OF IT TOO MUCH !
try overcome yr fear! u can do it!

Braces did not hurt for me at all. Of course, when I first got them, I was sore for about a week, but the pain did not exceed a 5 on your scale. After, I got them tightened once a month, and it would be sore for about a full day after the tightening (about a 3). If it really hurts you, a Tylenol would suffice. Its not the worst pain in the world, and believe me, its worth it. Just imagine how you're teeth will look afterwards, and that should help to numb the pain ;)

3-4 OVERALL

It's not bad! Believe me, I was scared to death to get my braces.
It feels weired when you first get them on, it doesn't so much hurt. You just have to get used to the feeling.
Tightenings aren't that bad, I couldn't even tell when they done mine. It's not like they take some big device and pull your teeth together, they twist this little thing and you don't feel much untill a day or two after, then you just are a little sore.

Trust me, it's all worth it when you have that beautiful smile!

I would say a 10. When I got my braces put on I took three days off of school because i was a pansy, but yes they do hurt REALLY bad. For at least a month it was shakes, apple sauce, peanut butter, anything soft. Now when i think about it i can't even remember what i ate because it hurt so bad to even suck on a straw let alone eat a french fry or a peanut butter sandwhich. (I got my braces on Halloween too) Everyone is different tho and some orthodontists tighten them more than others when you first get them on.

For regular visits, usually 6 or 12 times a year they adjust them as needed and then it only feels soar for a few days once you're used to the initial agony.

Think of it as a right of passage. Good luck

errr well when you first get them on its doesnt hurt for the dentist to apply them, they just press stuff onto your teeth....

but then about 12 hours after you feel a bit of pressure that i spose is really annoying cos you cant really eat, thats about a 5 or 6?

and then i havent had any pain when i get them tightened so after the first 2 weeks, you should be okay :)

and oh when you get them try to eat, because it helps the pressure to go away trust me, it may hurt but it means you will be in pain for less time,
