Close gap in front teeth?!

Question: I have a horrible gap in my front teeth. I could fit a cigarette in there and I'm afraid to smile around people. I'm 18 and planning on entering the air force.

How long would it take me to close this gap since I'm already 18 and anything else thats growing on me is starting to slow down.

Would the Air force handle my dental problem? If not then do I just go and get braces before I go into the Air force?

I have had this gap since I was little. My mom thought it was "cute" but its grown into an embarrassment preventing me from really smiling.

If the gap in your teeth is not detrimental to your health, it is unlikely that the Air Force will do anything to remedy the situation for you. A gap that large would take some time to close with braces--probably around 24 months. Make an orthodontist appointment and see what plan they can offer you. Until then, be confident in the fact that you are an all around decent human being and try to look past what you see as physical flaws. We are all flawed in one way or another, sweetness. Most importantly...smile! I would rather look at a happy, smiling face with a gap toothed smile than a stone face any day. Good luck, sweetie!

ask and orthodontist. you're smile is different that everyone elses, and everyone has a different time period.

There is nothing impossible in dental technology it could be fixed consult your dentist.

I had a gap like that when I was little. They did surgery to correct it, and it mostly closed. It wasn't too traumatic; there may be something the AF dentists can do for you after you're in.
