How do I get the food out from my expander?!
Question: i have had my expander (and braces) on for about 2 days now, and eating is such a problem. i cant even chew, and to top it off, all i food i am able to chew just gets caught up in my expanders! how do i get the food out? i have heard of using a water pik, but i dont have one yet, so until then, what should i do?
also my ortho gave me a little tool to get food out, except it isnt working, mainly because i have no idea how to use it! so help with that too!

Swish warm water and swish some more, the food will eventually come out. Get a water pik as soon as possible, they really make a difference with ortho work.
I assume this is a palatal expander. It should be against the roof of your mouth; ordinarily I would think forceful rinsing should dislodge most food. If it's standing away from the roof of the mouth it may need adjustment.

get a pipcleaner stick it between the rooth of your mouth and expander rub or w.e
