It does prevent infections in your mouth. The osmolarity (concentration of salt) in saltwater is high, and the osmolarity in bacteria is comparatively low. Bacteria cannot stop water from gushing out of them in order to equalize the two concentrations (get it?) and in the process the bacteria die. This treatment also works great for canker sores and makes a very good mouthwash as well.

It prevents infection by killing most bacteria and germs since they are the reason why infections occur.

it cleans the infected
i dunno how to explain it, its jus good lol

Well Idkk why it would be good for your teeth but it is good for absorbing the bacteria and salt water is bad for you because the salt could end up absorbing all of your water and make your cells collapse so after you're done gargling the water, make sure that you spit it out.

yes, when i had some mouth work done, and even when i had orthodontal work done, i was told to gargle with warm, salt water. it helps to reduce swelling, and acts like an antibacterial.

what you also have to remember is salt increases the amount and efficiency of nerve transmissions aswell as destroying bacteria etc.

should gently swish warm, salt water....... it helps with the healing process
